Meet Joe Patty-Sabandar from the Patasiwa Allane clan. Master tattooist of the Ha’apita and Pa’atei markings from the Alifuru people in Molo’uku (Melanesia).
Joe Patty-Sabandar is one of the last practioners in the world of this ancient warrior culture. Joe and his family are one of the pillars of reviving the traditional Pa’atei and Ha’apita markings.
Joe works with traditional hand tools “Likata Hoha laha likata Meteta” made from native hard wood from his island Nusa Aponu.
Joe is based in Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
